Our Story

David Ngene, an award-winning industrial designer, and Sebastian Tesche, a seasoned product manager, are Nike veterans and longtime friends with over three decades of combined experience creating some of Nike's most iconic products. Despite their expertise, they faced a common challenge: finding the perfect backpack to seamlessly transition through their hectic lives. They juggled multiple bags—work, travel, duffle, diaper—accumulating massive collections that quickly filled closets and were eventually discarded.

Every year, more backpacks are sold in the US than global iPhone sales. We buy a lot of backpacks, yet most stay the same as the day we bought them, trailing behind our constantly evolving lifestyles. A shift in needs or tastes can render a perfectly functional backpack obsolete, leading to waste. This didn't make sense to David and Sebastian.

Seeing an incredible opportunity, they reimagined one of the most ubiquitous tools on the planet. They envisioned a system that could adapt as quickly and easily as changing a pair of socks, keeping backpacks useful for longer. This vision led to Pacmodo, a modular backpack ecosystem designed to meet you where you are, every day.
